Have you ever caught yourself feeling envious of someone, and then judged yourself with a thought like, “you shouldn’t think that! You should be happy for them! What a horrible person you are!”
Like that’s helpful.
Or maybe you’ve eaten all the brownies and thought, “I shouldn’t have done that! You’re such a slob – no wonder you can’t lose weight!”
Or worse. (I feel like these examples are the ‘kinder’ version of what we really say sometimes.)
Often, when we think or feel something we think we ‘shouldn’t,’ we will try to escape it or correct it with a judgmental thought.
It’s almost like we’re trying to shame ourselves into feeling better or motivated. This obviously doesn’t work very well.
So why don’t we just drop the judgment?
It is possible.
In fact, this week’s podcast is all about limiting our self-judgment.
