206. Grounded and Confident: The Gift of Female Friends

Grounded and Confident

Well, hey there, you guys! Welcome back to another episode of the podcast. Today’s episode is a bit different than usual. We’re talking about the gift of female friendships and how they can ground us and boost our confidence. I recently spent an amazing weekend with my college roommates in Olympia, Washington, and it reminded me just how vital these relationships are for our mental health and overall well-being, which are essential to staying grounded and confident in your life.

The Importance of Female Friendships

I’ve always prioritized my faith, family, health, and business, often placing friendships lower on the list. However, this weekend showed me the profound impact of connecting with old friends. It’s not about spending time with friends every week, but about recognizing the value of these connections and making time for them when it’s needed.

Being with my college friends helped me see myself more clearly. These relationships act as mirrors, reflecting back our true selves and highlighting areas for growth and areas where we shine. Sharing stories and experiences helps us understand ourselves better and feel more connected.

Dealing with Life’s Challenges Together

We all face incredible joys and heartbreaking disappointments. Talking about these with friends who’ve known us for years can be incredibly grounding. It’s a reminder that we’re not alone in our struggles and that we have a support system to lean on.

Getting Valuable Feedback

Friends often see us more objectively than we see ourselves. They offer insights that can lead to greater self-awareness. Discussing various life scenarios and getting different perspectives from trusted friends can help us navigate our challenges more effectively.

Encouragement and Support

We need friends who lift us up, not those who compete or compare. Being around supportive and encouraging women helps us trust our abilities and instincts. This positive reinforcement is crucial for our confidence and personal growth.

Cultivating Strong Friendships

Listen Without an Agenda

Hold space for your friends by listening without trying to fix their problems. People often need a sounding board more than they need solutions. Just being heard can be incredibly healing and validating.

Regular Connection

Find ways to regularly connect with your friends. This could be through group texts, remembering their birthdays, or planning annual get-togethers. Regular communication keeps the bond strong and shows that you care.

Be Vulnerable and Honest

True connections come from being open and honest about our lives. Share your real feelings and experiences, and don’t shy away from deep conversations. This builds trust and deepens the friendship.
